Protest Through The Lens Of: Helgi P Einarsson

Photographer Helgi P. Einarsson sent along these two sets he shot during the ‘Rainbow Revolution (they follow one another in the slide-show)’. Frankly, they look awesome to us. Explains Helgi: “The protester series is rather unconventional, as it doesn’t depict the event as much as the people in and around it. The focus is there; it’s not a story of the key events of the protests, but a certain angle on the phenomenon as such.
The Riot Police series exists because I thought seeing “the Icelandic Riot Police” cavorting about was fascinating and thus wanted to investigate further. Their costumes rarely see the light of day, and it was rather strange seeing them in the context of what we’re supposed to be accustomed to here in Iceland.
