Bláfjöll is the largest skiing area in Iceland, located less than a half hour drive outside Reykjavík. Nestled in a large mountain range, it’s clearly visible from the city on winter nights. Local skiers are now enjoying their final days of fun on the slopes, as the area usually closes by the end of April. However, due to favourable conditions, the city plans to keep the skiing area open until mid-May–weather permitting.
Our photographer, Art Bicnick, visited last Friday and caught these amazing shots of skiers, snowboarders and other snow lovers.
Bláfjöll is easily accessible via public transportation. More information on admission, opening hours and bus rides is available here.
