Grapevine Presents: Benni Hemm Hemm Live at Hotel Borg, March 30th

For our second podcast, the Grapevine presents Benni Hemm Hemm’s Hotel Borg performance of March 30th, 2006, in its entirety.

We are skipping the introductions and interviews for a few reasons: 1) the show itself is exactly an hour, and we don’t want to cut anything out to put in our own comments; 2) a key computer at the Grapevine offices, one holding the Benni Hemm Hemm interview, died.

To describe what you’re hearing, Benni Hemm Hemm played with a 12-piece band last night, joined during one song by the thirteenth member, cartoonist and rapper Hugleikur Dagsson.

The packed show took place in the ballroom Hotel Borg, an austere, well-outfitted old hotel in the centre of downtown that, in the 50s, was the home to big band concerts on a regular basis.

Most of the songs Benni played last night are new, including the hip hop song, “Ég kyssi þig á augun”, performed with Hugleikur.
