UK Ambassador: “No Comment” on Brown’s Cold Shoulder to Iceland PM
Ian Whitting, the British ambassador to Iceland, will not comment on why UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown has still not responded to a letter from Icelandic Prime Minister Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir, months after the fact.
According to Vísir, Sigurðardóttir sent a letter to Brown regarding Icesave on 28 August, wherein she requested that the two meet, and that British authorities show Iceland understanding in the Icesave matter. Brown has not yet responded.
When Vísir contacted the British ambassador in Iceland via e-mail, asking why no answer has yet been forthcoming, the response was a terse “No comment”.
Sigurðardóttir said earlier this week that she is still waiting for an answer from Brown.
