From Iceland — Iceland Makes It To Eurovision Finals

Iceland Makes It To Eurovision Finals

Published May 17, 2013

Living rooms across the country rejoiced last night as Eyþór Ingi Gunnlaugsson was voted among the singers who will compete in the Eruovision finals in Malmö on Saturday night.
Of the seventeen countries that competed in last night’s semi-finals, ten will continue to the final round which will feature a total of 26 countries. Eyþór’s performance is somewhat unusual as he has chosen to sing the song, Ég á líf (literally: I have a life, poetically: I am alive), in Icelandic instead of English.
All the other Nordic countries also made it to the finals, and like them, Icelanders are avid fans of Eurovision. Vísir reports how the performance of an unrelated play in the National Theatre was interrupted yesterday so that the audience could watch Eyþór compete.
